The engine lubrication system is made up of a variety of mechanical parts, ranging from the sump pan and plug to oil filters, oil pressure switches, and oil level sensors. We can provide you with all the different products your engine lubrication system requires.
Efficient lubrication is crucial for prolonging the lifespan of your engine, as it can prevent everything from jamming to overheating. So, by taking care of your vehicle's lubrication system and replacing its seals, filters, and other parts as necessary, you can improve the performance of your car — and save yourself from more expensive repairs too.
If the 'engine oil is low’ light comes on, it's best to check the oil level.
Not all oil types are not suited to all engines. Firstly, check the car's manual. It'll tell you what type of engine oil is preferred for your car's make and model. If the manual is missing you can ask one of our staff at a GSF Car Parts store which oil to use.
There are a few types of engine oil grades. You can decode the numbers and letters by the following code
Engine oils can be described as semi-synthetic and fully synthetic oils. Semi-synthetic oil is more expensive than mineral oils and cheaper than fully synthetic. Fully synthetic oils offer better performance and protection, degrading slower than semi-synthetic.
Always check the car's manual for the correct amount of engine oil that should be in the vehicle.
To check the engine oil yourself, you should first open the bonnet and locate the dipstick. It'll be a ring that is near the side and top of your engine. Pull the dipstick right out and wipe any excess oil away with a clean cloth. You'll get a clean oil level reading by doing this.
Reinsert it back into the engine and then pull it back out. They'll be two marks at the bottom of the dipstick and the oil level should sit between the two.
The minimum and maximum levels of your engine oil. If it's below you will need to top up your oil immediately. If it's above your oil has been overfilled and could damage the engine and deliver a low performance.
The oil filter keeps your engine and oil clean, removing oxidized oil, metallic particles, and other dirt from your oil. Purifying it so that it works through your engine more efficiently. Changing your car oil filter reduces the amount of wear on your engine.
